I am a Christian, husband, father, and pastor. I serve as the preaching pastor at Quinault Baptist Church in Kennewick, WA. I received my B.S. in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute, and my M.Div. from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I enjoy reading, writing, and spending time outdoors with my lovely wife, Hillary, and our three boys: Jack, Calvin, and Owen.
Concerning Sermon Manuscripts
When I preach off a manuscript, I do not follow the manuscript slavishly, but use it more like an outline. I manuscript my sermons because the process of writing everything out helps clarify the thoughts in my mind. If you read through my manuscript and were to listen to the audio recording of my sermons, you would notice many things that were different. So, while my manuscripts are faithful representations of the sermon, the audio recording possesses a more accurate picture of what was actually preached.
Lastly, I publish my manuscripts online as a way to serve my church. I do not work terribly hard on polishing them or reviewing them–I publish them simply as a way for members of my church to be able to glance through my notes to refresh their memories, help their small group discussions, or clarify something that they may have been confused by in the preaching.
